Food fortification for a smarter, healthier, more productive world

This report discusses the potential of food fortification as a viable solution to hidden hunger, malnutrition caused by the consumption of a diet that lacks essential micronutrients.

Food fortification – defined as adding a small amount of micronutrients to a staple food or condiment – has been shown to be one of the safest and most cost-effective measures to tackle hidden hunger on a large scale.

To date, GAIN has been supporting large scale food fortification programs to improve the nutrition over people suffering from micronutrient deficiencies.
GAIN prepared this call for action ahead of the Global Summit on Food Fortification, which took place in September 2015 in Arusha, Tanzania.
