Angela Hansen

Senior Strategist and Founder, Food Systems Foresight


Angela R. Hansen is a senior strategist and the founder of Food Systems Foresight. She has formulated strategy for leading international NGOs, multilateral and bilateral development organizations, and private sector companies in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Africa. A former Partner at the strategy and policy advisory firm Dalberg, she led the firm’s Johannesburg office and was the Global Director of Agriculture & Food Security.  While interim CEO of the Global Knowledge Initiative in Washington, D.C., Angela guided teams advancing systems thinking in international development. Angela is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Transformation Leaders Network and has led more than a hundred strategic engagements in food systems. She is also a participant-centered educator on the Master of Philosophy in Inclusive Innovation program at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business. As a strategic practitioner and academic, Angela regularly derives novel methodologies and processes to support data gathering and qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods analysis. She draws on an extensive strategic toolkit, specializing in systems thinking, data-driven problem solving, and human-centered design.
