Poor diet is the number one risk factor driving the world’s disease burden. Join us in the discussion about how food systems can provide healthy diets to all within the planetary boundaries.
On 20 February 2018, Lawrence Haddad GAIN’s Executive Director will be presenting the "Nutrition and Food Systems" report produced by the high-level panel of experts on food security and nutrition at the World Health Organization (WHO).
The purpose of this report is two-fold:
- to analyse how food systems influence people’s dietary patterns and nutrition outcomes; and
- to highlight effective policies and programmes that have the potential to shape food systems and contribute to improved nutrition and sustainability.
The report includes short case studies reflecting the wide variety of practical experiences in different contexts. It also provides a set of action-oriented recommendations addressed to States, the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and other stakeholders to inform their contributions to the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016–2025).
