The EatSafe Innovation Challenge ran from April to October 2022 and encouraged students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to share their ideas on how food system innovations can be adapted and applied in traditional food markets and along value chains to solve food safety issues in Nigeria and Ethiopia. The challenge received over 750 applications, of which 10 finalists were chosen to present their concepts at the EatSafe National Innovation Challenge Pitch Event. From these events, the top six winners were selected to participate in the Global Finale hosted by the Technical University of Denmark Food Skylab, and three were awarded prizes from sponsors. Throughout the challenge, technical guidance was provided to applicants to help them refine their solutions.
In a blog published on Agrilinks in August 2022, EatSafe profiles the top 10 finalists. GAIN announced the winner via a press release in October 2022.
