On Wednesday 28 July, 09:00-10:30 CEST the informal Urban Food Systems Working Group is organising the United Nations Food Systems pre-summit session "Cities and Local Food Systems". GAIN’s Urban programme and FAO are co-leads of the organising working group, which involves several city networks, UN agencies and other civil society organisations and academia.
By redefining the value of food through True Cost Accounting and redesigning the economics of food through true pricing, market players and governments can increase the true value food markets create for society. In this session, both the science and practical examples will be discussed.
This session will feature a multi-sectoral panel from across Action Tracks and Innovation Levers focused on the challenges and opportunities for more and better data, more useful data, and more data use for food systems transformation. It will feature a moderated panel discussion followed by an open Q&A.
Act4Food Act4Change is a youth-initiated and led campaign in support of the UNFSS and the GoodFood4All campaign. It brings together young people from around the world to focus on their personal actions as a contribution to food system change. It urges governments, businesses, UN agencies, youth counterparts, and people of all ages to pledge to act boldly and promptly.
On July 26 at the Pre-Summit, we will jointly discuss solutions and opportunities to promote better food security, nutrition, decent work and inclusive and sustainable livelihoods with a group of governments, civil society, academic, and international organizations.
The meeting aims to tap into the experience and lessons of countries to help define the priorities of the cluster. It will also shape how the cluster can support the newly established broader gender Coalition for Action, "Making food systems work for women and girls".
Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN), the Power of Nutrition (PoN), Standing Together for Nutrition (ST4N) and the Micronutrient Forum (MNF) cordially invite you to a parallel session at the pre-summit of the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UN FSS).
For the UNFSS Pre-Summit, we wish to invite you to an affiliated event jointly organised by the Norwegian government and Andrew Mushita, UNFSS Food Champion and Executive Director of the Community Technology Development Trust, Zimbabwe.
This session will listen to the priorities of member states, review the current state of food insecurity, showcase some of the potential solutions emerging from the Summit, and introduce an emerging Coalition of Action to End Hunger that aims to align and mobilise resources to support national action to end hunger by 2030.
The webinar will share and build on the GAIN collaborative initiative’s results around better business accountability in nutrition, as well as reflect on ATNI in-depth expertise in assessing the largest food manufacturers and on CGF experience as a business association gathering more than 400 consumer goods retailers and manufacturers.
