Betty Kibaara is a Director at The Rockefeller Foundation, Africa Region Office. At the Foundation, She leads the implementation of the Smart Food Markets of the Future workstream that prioritize public health, food safety and embed principles of the circular economy including renewable energy and waste management. She has also been instrumental in advancing business models for scaling up insect-based feed as an alternative protein for poultry and fish. Additionally, Betty leads the YieldWise Initiative with a goal to reduce food loss in Maize (Tanzania), Mangoes (Kenya) and Cassava and Tomato value chains to improve livelihoods of the small holder farmers.
Betty serves as the regional champion for the Foundations initiatives in strengthening food security, agribusiness and the building of resilience to the devastating effects of climate change to enable real, sustainable and equitable economic growth. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics, Colorado State University, USA and Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management, Egerton University, Kenya.
