To inspire wide-spread discussion and action around this urgent topic, the World Food Forum (WFF) – a youth-led movement and network to transform our agrifood systems – is rallying around the 2022 theme: "Healthy Diets. Healthy Planet."
Leading up to the flagship event from 17 to 21 October, the WFF aims to co-identify bold, actionable solutions to minimize and mitigate the impacts of climate change, while simultaneously increasing global access to healthy diets. As a recurring forum, the WFF features a range of events and activities organized around four thematic tracks: Youth Action, Innovation, Education and Culture.
GAIN and Act4Food Act4Change will lead on three side events listed below:
How to engage youth in food systems programming - GAIN led
As a collective force, young people have extraordinary potential to mobilise and influence tangible, positive change for our world’s food. Our current food systems contribute to ongoing health, climate and biodiversity crises, and violation of human rights. We will only be able to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with a fundamental transformation of our food systems.
To address this, more and more organisations are engaging youth across the world in their programme design and implementation. This is to ensure young people are not only the beneficiaries of food system programmes but also the creators. Only with young people involved can we change food systems to provide everyone with access to safe, affordable, and nutritious diets, while simultaneously protecting nature, tackling climate change & promoting human rights.
This event will be an interactive and practical guide in how to engage young people in all their diversity in food systems programming with practical examples of how it has been done in Mozambique. At the end of the event, attendees will be able to incorporate and engage young people in their programme designs and implementation phases of their food system programme.
Youth at the Centre of the Food Revolution - Act4Food Act4Change led
Youth across the world are rallying behind #Act4Food #Act4Change, a youth-led campaign, through pledging to focus on our personal actions and in implementing the Actions4Change. These 10 Actions 4 Change were created in consultation with youth.
They are practical solutions that spur food systems change to provide everyone with access to safe, affordable, and nutritious diets, while simultaneously protecting nature, tackling climate change & promoting human rights.
We want to showcase global youth priorities for food systems in transformation in a meaningful creative way for young people and allies of youth. This event will be both interactive and practical to showcase both successful ways of implementing youth engagement and priorities for decision makers and being a practical guide for young people on creating and implementing youth-led campaigns.
With inclusion in mind this session will also be an introduction to food systems and the Act4Food Act4Change campaign ensuring that people with all abilities and skill sets can get involved.
