Silver joined GAIN in November 2023, coming from USAID Rwanda where he worked as a Foreign Service National, managing USAID’s nutrition, Food Security, WASH and early childhood development (ECD) projects between 2012 -2023. Silver has a broad understanding of coordinating development partners work on nutrition and food systems in Rwanda with his former portfolio as the co-facilitator of Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) donors’ platform and the co-chair of the national nutrition technical working group for a period of 10 years and his current role at GAIN Rwanda. Silver also worked at USAID HQ in Washington DC, on extended period as the Dr Martin J Foreman nutrition fellow, learning the Agency’s global business and approaches that promotes nutrition and food security globally to fight malnutrition. Silver occasionally supported USAID Burundi on nutrition matters as well. He holds an MPH, MBA, and Postgraduate Diploma in Food and Nutrition Security.
Silver has managed large multisector nutrition projects from the donor side that has had a profound impact on Rwandan women and children and received different U.S. government “honor awards” due to his dedication and results on nutrition work in Rwanda. His strengths are nutrition and food systems policy development, designing impactful projects, fostering collaboration, vision and strategy development, teamwork, and diplomacy. Silver leads GAIN’s work in Rwanda that is focusing on food systems transformation to promote healthier diets for better nutrition outcomes for women and children.
